Sydney Fish Markets - Retail Tenancies

The NSW Government’s vision to re-imagine the iconic site of Sydney Fish Markets (and the surrounding Bays Precinct), creating a world-class facility, was finally realised on 19th January 2026 with Sydney’s most significant harbourside building since the Opera House.

The new Sydney Fish Market welcomed over 230,000 visitors during its first week of operation following its opening and is expected to receive 6 million people annually following the $800m investment into the site.

DJC was engaged as the Project Manager to oversee the following 4 sites owned by the anchor tenant:

Peter’s (Sydney Fish Market) and Nicholas Seafood (Traders)
These two fitouts had added complexities with building a live fish tank housing various fish and a live oyster shucking station with beer and wine folly. Additionally, a first for DJC, s overseeing the installation of a two tonne machine above these tenancies, producing freshly shaved ice for preserving fish.

Blackwattle Deli and Fisherman’s Fine Wines – The Bottleshop
These two tenancies are unique in providing the only bottleshop in the vicinity and the only deli.

With complex, multi-stakeholder management required in navigating the base building complexities with Multiplex and Infrastructure NSW, the team at DJC led the design and construction for all four sites, constructed and built by FDC as the Head Contractor.

DJC is very proud to be involved in the redevelopment of a Sydney institution! Our work continues with our client in creating a new work space within the Sydney Fish Market which will be completed mid 2026.
