Home / 65 Walker Street

DJC was engaged by the Penn Family, owners and occupants of 65 Walker Street, North Sydney, to manage critical façade remediation works. Initially, the Penn Family had enlisted a small head contractor to treat the steel and
retain the existing façade. However, once work commenced, it became apparent that the structural steel was severely corroded.

The extent of the deterioration necessitated halting the works, propping the façade, and engaging a structural engineer for reassessment. In some  areas, steel beams and columns had corroded to the point of forming holes, severely compromising the building’s structural integrity.

DJC swiftly assembled a team including a façade engineer, architect, and PDC to address the challenges. Special attention was given to the building’s entry to minimise disruption to occupants, as the property remains fully  tenanted. Leveraging expertise, DJC successfully secured an exempt development approval, significantly expediting the remediation timeline.
